Patio Seating

Last night we went out to dinner with some friends and had an excellent time...the food was good and the company was great...but they sat us on the patio. Now I am all for patio seating when it is June/July or the weather is really pretty, but...February?!? The wind was blowing and there was a definite chill in the air. A few even went looking in their cars for sweatshirts/jackets to put on. To top it all off, there was hardly any light to even read the menu. We were giving Daniel a hard time because for being an old man because he was holding his menu at such an awkward angle.

We had fun and I hope that we get to go out with them again soon, but, don't you think February 27 is a little early to sit people outside?

Foundation Pics!

They poured the foundation on our house today!! We went by after I got off work today and the guys were removing the form boards around the concrete (and already walking all over it) I was very excited to see all they had gotten accomplished in the last few days. We were out there on Sat with my fam and it was still looking like mostly dirt...not anymore!!

Sunday night thoughts

I am halfway watching the Oscar's and on the computer at the same time. There are so many parts of award shows that seem to be just filler. I kind of wish they would give the awards like they do the nominations. Have you ever seen them announce the nominees? It takes like fifteen minutes on a morning news show...Of course, everyone would still have to get dressed up. I love seeing all of the fancy dresses. I hope Little Miss Sunshine wins Best Picture...I would love to see an underdog (the movie is excellent by the way) take home the big award.

Mom and company have all safely made it to their respective houses. They were so much fun to have around all weekend. I spent Friday night and Saturday being their navigator/driver and had fun. They laughed the WHOLE time!! I am glad that they have such a good relationship and enjoyed their weekend together.

I had to make a tough decision earlier...Amazing Race vs Oscars....guess which one? Of course, I had to watch the Amazing Race!! I figured I could spend an hour watching that and still have plenty of Oscar's to go around. When I did switch over, it seemed like they had really just gotten started. I think I made the better choice!! (I am so glad the people who got kicked off AR are gone...they were annoying me!!)

Hope everyone has an excellent week...maybe I will have some exciting house news to share soon!

Kidnapped!!

My mom, my grandmother, and my two aunts are on their way to DFW for a fun-filled girl's weekend....my aunt is turning fifty this weekend so the other women have just kidnapped her from the school where she is the principal(I think there was a wheelchair, balloons, and who knows what else involved in that caper). I just talked to my mom and I couldn't even hear her because of all the commotion and laughing in the background...they say it will be WILD!! (or as wild as four married church of Christ women can get...;)

When my mom turned fifty a few years ago, they all went to Lubbock for one night and then came up here for my wedding shower and had a blast! They are so excited about this trip! I think that may aunt had an idea they might do something similar to what they had done for my mom but wasn't sure about the specifics of the plan.

I think I will be the official driver/navigator for the weekend....wish me luck!!!

Daniel's Surprise

Early last week, Dan asked me to not plan anything on Saturday afternoon..he said he had a surprise for me that could possibly take 3-4 hours. For the whole week, he would make comments here and there but would not tell me ANYTHING!! When it comes to surprises, I am not a very patient person :) I just get too excited and I can't wait!!

Well, on Saturday, the plans kind of fell apart on him. He was so disappointed!! He had planned on taking me to see Body Worlds at the Dallas Museum of Nature & Science. Apparently, it is a really popular exhibit and we did not have tickets early enough for a time that we could go. We are still planning on going in a few weeks.

I am really excited about going. I think it will be an excellent exhibit. I know that some people have a problem with the way the bodies are preserved but there is so much to learn through it!! You can also rent audio guides that will guide you through the tour...they even offer two different levels, basic and advanced. Has anybody else gone?

It's starting again!!

I am so excited about the Amazing Race!! I am an addict and have been for several seasons now. I must say that I missed the first few seasons but they are showing them again on Game Show Network so I am trying to keep up.

I think this is a great reality show. It is not about popularity or luck. You really have to be a good racer and smart enough to follow the clues that they give. I have tried for years now to convince Daniel that we should be on the show...he could do all the physical stuff and I could make sure we were always going in the right direction :) His excuse is that our marriage is not worth a million dollars...how can you argue with that? He always says that would mean the million dollars is worth more than he is!! Oh, well, I guess I will just keep wishing!!

Gotta go watch, it is about to start...This is the all-star edition so it will be filled with people who have already been on the show...should be fun!!

Plumbing!!

When I got off work a few hours ago, I drove out to our lot to look around. Daniel and I had both been out there on Monday and looked at the forms that they had put up. I had gotten excited about things possibly starting to pick up soon (now that it has quit raining).

Today when I got there, there are a few pipes sticking up out of the ground!! I don't know if I was completely correct, but you can kind of tell where all the stuff is in the kitchen and in the bathrooms. I know that they are not anywhere close to finishing our house but it is very exciting to finally see some real progress as opposed to just dirt work. I know the dirt work is important before they can pour the foundation but it doensn't look as productive. I am getting more and more excited about moving...hopefully it will be here soon!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's day to everyone!!

I came home tonight and actually have time to post this because my husband is cooking us dinner. He had the house picked up, candles lit all over, and a basket sitting on the table. Inside the basket was two different types of dark chocolate, 3 different bath salt/lotions, and white tulips. They were beautiful!!!

It is so nice to know that you are spending the day with the person that you love most in the world. I am so blessed to have Daniel in my life, he truly is my soul mate.

There is a song I heard on the radio that I think says it best. I am not sure about the exact words so I may have it a little wrong but it basically says...God must have been thinking about me when He created you...

I love you Daniel...Happy Valentine's Day!

Guy Trip and Time at Home

Dan left yesterday evening with two of his brothers, a cousin, and a friend/brother-in-law for five guy only days in Breckenridge. They go every year and spend some time skiing and just hanging out with each other. The other 360 days of the year, they are talking about when they are going to go again or what they did while they were gone. Pretty much everyone in the family knows what is meant by the phrase "guy trip." I am glad that they go and have so much fun. I think it is important for guys to have some time to just enjoy each other's company and do something out of the ordinary.

Of course, this means that I have a free weekend (once I finish work tomorrow) so I am taking the opportunity to go visit my fam for a few days. I am very excited about it. It is always nice to be at home with no real plans or holidays...just enjoy being there. Mom is always wanting to take care of you and Saturday is actually my Dad's birthday so we might have to have some cake or something!!

Both of us will be flying back in on Sunday afternoon so we can start the work week back...can't wait to hear all of the stories from Breck!!

Flu Season

Flu season has officially hit North Texas. Two weeks ago, Dr. S, Maureen, and I were all sitting around talking about how we had not seen much flu yet...

And then it hit! What were we thinking jinxing ourselves like that!

The last two weeks have been EXTREMELY busy. We have seen so many people with strep and flu...and all of them are really sick!! We have had just a few people come in because people they know are ill, but overall, we have seen a lot of people with high temperatures. I don't even know how many positive flu tests we have seen today.

Just a reminder to everyone else...please wash your hands, don't drink after anyone who is sick, and, if you are sick, please stay home from work!!

A hairdresser's inch

I went and got my hair cut yesterday afternoon. After the lady (who I have been to several times) washed my hair, she asked me how much I wanted to cut off. Since I have really enjoyed having it long recently, I told her I just wanted a little trimmed. She asked if an inch would be okay. I said yes, but right at an inch, no more.

My hair is now a good 3-4 inches shorter than it was previously. Dan says that it just looks so much shorter because there are some shorter layers in the front but that overall, he thinks it is not that much shorter. I think I disagree...

Why is it that a hairdresser's inch is never equal to my inch? Does this happen to anyone else besides me?

Moving Day

This morning we went and helped Tim and Krystal move all of their things out of storage and into their new home! I am so excited for them. I know they must be very ready to be living in their first home. Moving all of their things into the house went fairly quickly. We went to the storage room, loaded up the U-haul and then took the truck to their new home. Krystal and I stopped at Tim's parents' house to pick up a few more clothes before heading over to help unload the truck. It is amazing to me how quickly you can unload a truck like that...definitely not as long as it takes to load it!! We had to leave before they had all of the boxes unpacked but I like to think we helped make a dent in things!

When we got back to our apartment, someone is moving in above us...right now they are still kind of loud but hopefully that will go away when they get everything in.

Watching all of these people move has sure made me ready for our turn!!
