Surgery Update

Sorry I haven't posted anything sooner...

I haven't heard anything recently, but Gerry said the surgery itself went well. Now they are just trying to help her through all the immediate post-op stuff...she was a little disoriented when she woke up.

Thanks for your prayers!!!

Broken Hip

Daniel's grandmother in Arkansas fell and broke her hip yesterday. She is having surgery today to try and fix everything. Please keep her in your prayers as well as Dan's mom, Ouida, as she drives to Arkansas to be with her mom. I will update when I know more.

Baby Shower Surprise

Dan was working today so I took the opportunity to go see my friend Kathleen at her baby shower. Kathleen and I were at A&M together and had a lot of the same classes. We had a certain table at Souper Salad that was our 'study table' for the night before any exams. It is amazing what you can learn while snacking on blueberry bread! She is currently finishing her last year of residency at the med school in Galveston and is expecting her first baby in early September. (Her shower was in her hometown outside of Tyler)

Kathleen and I were great friends and were in each other's weddings. We keep in touch but we haven't been able to physically see each other since she picked us up from the ship we were on for our cruise/honeymoon. It has definitely been toooo looooong!

I didn't tell anyone I was going so it was a lot of fun to walk in the door and surprise her and then it was great to sit and talk for a few hours. I hope I did not monopolize too much of her time! I loved getting to talk with all of her family - her husband, her sister, and her parents....what fun!!

I can't wait to see her again - hopefully before her son goes to kindergarten!!

Finally Friday

I woke up on Monday morning thinking it was Tuesday. Then I woke up on Tuesday thinking it was Thursday. I am not sure where all these days were going but, obviously, the week was not moving fast enough for me! I hate it when that happens because I have been waiting for Friday for three days now.....Glad it is finally here!!

Wedding Weekend #4

Another fun-filled, exciting weekend! I have really grown to love weddings - I think I just enjoy reconnecting with old friends and seeing two people so madly in love with each other join their lives together...makes me weepy!! Now my husband, that's another story!! (haha)

My friend Cari got married on Friday night. I had to miss out on the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner because I could not make it to Lubbock on time. My flight out of Love was delayed and I didnot land until almost 10:30 on Thursday night. (Dan drove up on Friday when he got off work and then we drove home together). Friday morning we had a Bridal Brunch and I got to catch-up on all the festivities! What fun!!

Megan and Leslie and I all went to high school together (with Cari). Leslie lives in Canada now and Megan is about to move to San Antonio from Dallas. Leslie was also a bridesmaid.

Holly went to high school with all of us as well, but she was a year older. She is holding her son, Corbin, as Cari watches.

Lots of chatting going on at the brunch!!

We were setting up partitions to make a room for Cari and all of the bridesmaids to get ready. My sister broke one of the dividers and Cari's dad and brother had to come fix it.

Cari was definitely pampered - she looked beautiful!!

Cari, Leslie, and I were the three of the four people our age in our youth group at church. (Poor Mark was the only boy...)

Holly and I - all of the bridesmaids were asked to pick out a black dress to wear. We were all pleasantly surprised at how well they all went together. We all had our own style but a lot were somewhat similar. They all ended up being knee length as well - how is that for coincidence!! It looked GREAT!!

Me, my Mom, and my sister

Me and my Gran during the reception

Dan and I with the happy couple - Congrats to Jeremy and Cari!!

We were definitely glad to get home. Daniel is really glad that our wedding filled summer is now officially over - unless someone else surprises us and gets one in quick!!

Party Pics and other news

We had so much fun on Saturday! We had over thirty people at our house for the housewarming party the girls from work threw for us. A few of Dan's friends from work also came to see the house and hang out. Some people stayed for a little over four hours and the kitchen was the definite gathering place. I can't wait to have even more people over for another party!

We got a new (used) car yesterday! I am really excited about it. After the incident the other night, we couldn't wait any longer to replace the cougar, She was on her last legs! She sure was a great car while I was going to A&M and I was a little sad to see her go.

The dining room table looks great...as soon as I take some pictures of it I will post them. The bedroom furniture we had picked out had to be returned to the manufacturer by the store before it was even delivered due to some manufacturing detect so we are back to square one there.

Wedding weekend #4 starts tomorrow. I am flying to Lubbock right after work and then Daniel is going to drive up on Friday before the wedding Friday night. Cari is one of my best friends from before kindergarten and we are still great friends. I am so excited for her! More pics and such when we get back...

Family Fun

My mom, grandmother, brother, and sister all came to visit and see the house (My dad had to stay home) and we have had a lot of fun! They stayed at the house today while I went to work and actually hung some things on the walls....a first for our home!! My aunt, uncle, my cousin, and her husband also came over this afternoon for a short visit. Too bad Dan has had to work!! :)

My brother and I are now sitting at home waiting for my dining room furniture to be delivered. It was supposed to be here between 2-6 but the truck broke down at some point during the day and they are now having to play catch-up. We all ran to Corner Bakery for a quick dinner and then Cade and I came home to wait. The delivery man just called to verify directions so he should be here soon!! I am so glad that things are finally starting to look like a real, lived-in home.

Hope everyone has had an excellent Friday the 13th!!

I'll post more later...gotta help the delivery guy in!!

Eventful Evening

Daniel and I had quite the eventful evening last night...

I got home from work around 6 and helped clean up a little while he was finishing hanging the last of the blinds. (They look so good!!) About the time he finished, his pager went off. The message said that there was an apartment complex on fire and they needed everyone to come back in...He was gone for three hours and I just did stuff around the house.

He called me about 10 and said that he was headed home. Then he called me at 10:30 and told me that he was stuck on the side of the road near the highway intersection closest to our house. He had veered too sharply into the turn lane and hit the curb with the tires on the car....three of them. Two of the tires (and rims) were completely busted and one of the back tires was still holding air but was on a bent rim....great!! :( We only had one doughnut in the trunk (and he said the jeep tires would not fit) so we replaced the worst of the tires up front with the doughnut. The other front tire had a bent rim but we thought the tire would be okay....wrong! Upon further examination, the tire had a large crack in the side wall. We were only five miles or so from our house so we decided to just drive home on the rim - the tire and the rim were already both ruined. It took us a while but we made it safely home - at 12:30 am! (I am so not a night person!!!)

I took him back to work this morning before I went to work and he is going to have a friend bring him home. Then we get to go buy new rims and tires!! Thank goodness he was not seriously hurt!!

(That was the abbreviated version - I can add more details if you would like!! :)

Furniture Shopping

Furniture shopping is so much fun!!

Daniel and I have spent a lot of time after work this week looking for furniture for our new home. We needed a dining room table and he was wanting to get a king-size bed for our room and move our bed to another bedroom to have a guest room. Everytime we stay in a hotel and sleep in a king-size, we both comment on how good we slept, so we decided we needed to upgrade. Apparently we do not sleep very well together!! :)

There is such beautiful furniture available!! We looked at several different places and found LOTS of things that we like. We definitely found more than we were needing. We have couches in our living room that are perfectly functional. We talk about replacing them someday (especially since Dan got them from a random move job - the owners were going to throw them in the trash - we have no idea who they were or where the couches originally came from) but we know that we can wait for that. Of course, that is one of the first things we found that we liked. We will have to go back and get those someday!!

In the next ten days, we will have a new dining room and chairs, a king-size bed, nightstands, a chest, and mattresses all delivered to our house. I am SOOO excited!!

Some people from work are coming over on Sat to see the house and have a little 'housewarming party' so I am ready to start entertaining! Especially now that I will have chairs for people to sit in!!

Settling In

We have now officially been in our house for two weeks. I guess I was really optimistic in my thinking about moving, because I sure thought that we would move everything into our new home and it would be put in the perfect place and everything would look great that night...Boy was I wrong!! Between working full-time and attending a wedding last weekend, yesterday was the first day that both of us had been available to work on the last of the unpacking. I LOVE our house. So far, we have nothing on the walls, but it is already starting to feel more and more like home. We are going to get blinds this week and then slowly start buying furniture and moving things around. We have a lot of empty rooms right now that I cannot wait to fill!! I know that I will be ready to buy things a lot quicker than Daniel will !! :) (Click here for previous post....)

I have been promising pictures for two weeks now so here you go!! I didnot take any of the outside of the house yet. Most of those pictures have been on here before. With all the rain, we haven't been able to mow the grass, so the yard needs a little touch up before I post any pictures. Actually, we have not even bought a lawn mower, yet! :)
