Question?

Are you ever curious about what babies dream about? I wonder if Kenna is dreaming about being in school already. She has her hand like this often, I think she could stay like this all day long!

Kenna's first cookout and other pics

On Saturday, went out to Daniel's parents house so the guys could all help work on the new house they are building. We also had a cookout that evening to celebrate Solomon's birthday. We had a great day and the guys got a lot of work done. Kenna was so good all day long. She loved hanging out with her Grandma, Aunt Mercy, Aunt Mandy, and JD. When we got ready to go outside to eat, we put her in the stroller and covered her up real well (it was starting to get a little chilly) and she slept through the whole meal!

We have been trying to take pictures of Kenna with her eyes open...she always closes them right before we snap the photo!! She really is awake for most of the day, we just can't seem to catch it on film. I love watching all of her facial expressions...

Here are some pics of Miss K when we got home from church. Like most babies, the car seat always seems to put her right to sleep. She looked so cozy and warm in her little sweater (it was only in the upper 50s yesterday morning).

She is definitely growing up! Her cheeks have really filled out and I still need to get pictures of her little belly!!

Long Overdue!

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted....I can't believe how fast time has already gone! Kenna is changing (and growing) daily so I guess I need to catch everybody up!!

On Tuesday, we went to the pedi for Kenna's two week check. She weighed 6 lbs 7 oz at birth but was only 5.14 when we left the hospital. She is now up to 6.10!! She is definitely growing in length as well. She has grown 1.25 inches since she was born...from 17.25 to 18.5 inches. I made the lady remeasure because I couldn't believe that she had already grown over an inch! I should have known though....one of the preemie footed pajamas that she has been wearing had to be 'retired' because the legs were getting too short...already! It will be fun for her to get into real newborn clothes...we have such cute stuff that is still too big. My family made a quick Babies-r-us run for us before we left the hospital to get some preemie stuff for our 'little' girl so we have been well taken care of, but I want to see her in all the other outfits we have! Daniel and I were talking this morning about how she looks like she is getting a little belly! Her cheeks, which have gotten smaller since she was born, have started to fill out again as well. I don't have any pictures from today (yet) but I will try to get some updated (close-up) pics of our growing little girl.

Yesterday, Kenna went to work! I love the ladies that I work with and they have all been anxious to meet Kenna so we made a quick trip up to the office during lunch. Kenna did great and didn't seem to mind being passed around for an hour. I think that most people were surprised about how tiny she really is. She looks bigger in the pictures than she is in person. I hadn't really planned on going to the office yesterday (I was just going to go to my doc appt), so she didn't have a bow in her hair (sorry Mom) but I will definitely fix that next time! Here are some pics of her visiting.

Kenna is definitely loving her daddy. I LOVE watching them together. Daniel took a picture of me sleeping last week, so it was my turn to take a picture of him...don't they look peaceful!! (You can see how small she is in the first picture).

Some of Dan's brothers were over last night to play ping-pong so we made Josh take a turn holding Kenna. Nathan and Joel had come to see her at the hospital, but this was her first time to oficially meet Uncle Josh.

I will post some better pics of Kenna soon....

All alone

Daniel has gone to the gym for a little while, and for the first time since Kenna was born, I am at home alone with her. It is really exciting to take care of such a little one, but it can also be a little overwhelming. We are used to passing her back and forth for diaper changes and such. So far, all she has done is sit in her swing and sleep. I could just sit and watch her all day. I am still amazed (and probably always will be) at the absolute miracle that she is.

She is such a sweet thing...she just has her days and nights mixed up a little bit. She really likes to be awake between midnight and two. I think that is now her favorite time of day!! I have been trying to take advantage of some of the daytime sleep for some napping of my own!

Jon and Mandy brought dinner out the other night and JD got to see his cousin. I don't think he knew what to think....Thanks you guys for a great meal!

Sunbathing beauty

Before I get to the pictures described in the title of this post, I thought I would post one of my favorite Kenna pictures (so far). Doesn't she look sweet sleeping in her bassinet? (sorry the pic is sideways)
Kenna is still a little jaundiced, so the pediatrician wants us to lay her by a window for just a few minutes each day. It has really made a difference in the color of her eyes and she seems to enjoy it. For most of the time she will just lay there and grin...we have decided it must relax her.

Yesterday she was just snoozing away, enjoying her time in the sun, when.....

....she just decided to let it all go. Daniel and I cannot quit laughing about the following picture...and it did not even phase her! She just kept right on sleeping in the sun.

She will probably really hate me for that picture someday, but I just couldn't keep myself from posting it!

Home Safe and Sound

Everyone made it home safe and sound yesterday...what an amazing experience we have had. Kenna is absolutely wonderful and I can't believe that she is here! The time just flew by on Wednesday and then she was here!

Wednesday night was an eventful night as the storms blew through town. I did not know what a Code Black was (Natural disaster) when they started paging it over the intercom in the hospital. All of the babies had to be taken to the middle of the nursery and then they started moving everyone else's beds away from all the windows and such. We did not have any real electricity from 3:30 until 10:30 AM. Of course the generators were going but that only turned on one small light in each room and allowed the nurses call buttons to work. Quite the adventure for Kenna's first night on earth.

On Thursday morning we had to give Kenna her first manicure. Her fingernails were soooo long and she would not leave her face alone. I gave my mom the fun job of actually filing her nails down.

We all got to come home on Saturday morning and I thought she looked sweet in her 'coming home' outfit. My mom had to go get a preemie outfit - all of her newborn stuff looks huge on her!

She looked so small in her car seat!

One of her first diaper changes at home - she actually looked pretty content! She absolutely loves her hands. She doesn't usually have them in her mouth, but they are really close to her fact at all times. She gets really mad if we wrap her hands up in a blanket.

What a sweetie!!

My sister, Amy, and her family got to come visit some this weekend as well. Abbye got to go on her first road trip to visit her new cousin, Kenna. My parents were in heaven with both of their granddaughters in one place. They took tons of pictures yesterday of the girls. (Kenna is on the left and Abbye is on the right)

I am sure that you are all going to get really tired of Kenna posts, but....there will be more to come!! (Sorry for the weird spacing...I can't get it right!!)

She has a beautiful head of dark hair and cute little chubby cheeks! She is already sporting her first pink bow!

Heather and Dan are doing great - very happy to see their little girl in person. They had lots of visitors already, anxious to see the little cutie pie!

The Big Day

updated with pictures

Tomorrow I will be a mommy...

Kenna has decided to be stubborn and does not want to turn around so she is going to make her appearance tomorrow. We are both so excited and cannot wait to meet our daughter. I know that she will already have a personality (stubborn?) and I cannot wait to see what it is. As soon as we have pictures and stuff I will try to get it posted to keep you all updated.

We took the last "belly pictures" last night and I will try to get those posted when I get home from work today. Of course they are not my favorite but I guess that is part of the experience, right?

I can't wait!

Abbye Cate

Daniel and I got to make a quick trip to Lubbock this weekend to meet our new niece. She is absolutely adorable!!! She has really long legs, fingers, and toes so we are all making big plans for her future...either basketball or piano. (haha)

She is already in love with her pacifier and holds on to it like she is afraid someone will take it from her.

Amy and Charlie have a really cute sign in their front yard announcing her arrival.

Daniel and I both got in some good cuddle time and it definitely gave us baby fever!! We are counting down the days until Abbye's cousin, Kenna, arrives!! (I will post more about that soon....)
