Weekend at GranGrans

As I mentioned before, Daniel worked on Saturday so Miss K and I headed to Snyder to visit my grandmother. My sister took Abbye and we had a lot of fun. I have to post some pictures from our weekend!

Kenna and Abbye had to have their Saturday night baths so we took a few pics. I LOVE how cute she looks in this one! Amy and I think it is fun to dress A and K alike and make everyone think they are twins. Sunday morning was the perfect opportunity. Miss K was in yellow and Abbye was in blue but then they also had matching pacifier holders (with their own initials), socks, and shoes with their name monogrammed on the straps. We had to have a photo shoot before church.
They are already such great friends. Look at them holding hands! (and, no, we did not do that; they did it on their own)

This next one is my favorite. They have their arms the same and everything!
They are going to have so much fun together.

Video

Kenna has really started to like playing on the playmat where she can hit the toys hanging down. Her favorite is a little red bird with some beads hanging from its feet. While I was at work yesterday, Daniel got some video of Miss K playing and smiling. She eventually got tired and just wanted him to pick her up, but he just wanted to keep taking pictures. This is my first attempt at loading video so we will see how this works. Hope you enjoy!!

Kenna enjoying the bird - this is one of the first times she has really been able to actually make contact when she tries....

Tired of her time on the floor - I love her little warm-up cries. She gives you warning before she really lets loose. She is giving you a chance to pick her up, and she actually gives you quite a bit of time!

Right after the little fuss about being on the floor, she all of the sudden started smiling at her daddy. I love that grin!!

Miss K and I are actually at Gran-Gran's house this weekend. Daniel was working today so we decided to go to Snyder to see some of my fam. I am sure that I will have plenty of pictures to post of the girls (Abbye and Kenna) when I get home. We are having a great time and everyone is just loving playing with all the babies. My dad and uncle stayed with the girls this afternoon while all of the grown-up women (it feels weird to say that when it includes me) went to a friend's swimming pool and then for pedicures. What a nice relaxing weekend! The guys absolutely loved getting to babysit and we thoroughly enjoyed playing with the ladies!

First trip to the pool

We decided to take Miss K to the pool last night. We waited until the sun was going down so it would be a little cooler outside. She looked so cute in her sparkly zebra print swimsuit with the pink hat. The hat was a little large and kept covering her eyes so we eventually took it off - it was just making her mad.

Her first trip to the pool lasted less than ten minutes. She was okay at first but then I think the water was just a little too cold for her.

We didn't stay much longer because it was getting close to when she would be wanting to eat again, but I wonder if we had given her a little more time to adjust if she would have liked it more. We took her home and put her in the bathtub and she played and laughed and kicked so we know she loves water. We will definitely have to try it again soon!!

Push ups

Kenna has always loved "tummy time." Most of the time she falls asleep because she gets so comfortable. Yesterday she had fallen asleep on the floor, which worked out well for us because we got to eat dinner, and we looked over to see her doing pushups. She is doing so good holding her head up! We had to snap some quick pics of our cutie. Look at the rolls she is getting on her arms!! (Okay she is still not "big", but she is growing)

I went for a run last night and came back to find my sweeties snoozing on the couch. They LOVE sleeping next to each other. You know she is completely asleep when the pacifier falls out of her mouth.

Cookouts and Showers

Daniel's sisters were both in town this weekend for Sarah's baby shower on Saturday. Because ALL of the fam was in the area (we were just missing Sarah's and Hannah's husbands), we decided to have everyone over for dinner on Friday night. We do have a dining room table, but all 17 of the adults decided to sit in the living room where they could talk while they ate...such fun!
At first, Kenna and Luke were content to sleep away their time at the party....
...but JD wanted them to wake up and play!! (He didn't really wake her up). He just can't stay away! He is going to be so happy when his cousins are actually big enough to play with him.Kenna got to meet two of her aunts this weekend. Kenna loved hanging out in Aunt Hannah's arms...she just didn't like taking pictures!

We ended up having to do two diaper changes at the same time so we let Luke and Kenna play in the floor together. Miss K had a blowout so she was getting into her pajamas...we just took the pictures before she was dressed again!

They looked so cute holding hands and looking at each other. I don't have any idea what Kenna is doing/thinking in the other two pictures....any guesses? This next one is our favorite!! Luke is just looking at her like "what?"Of course the evening had to end with some foosball and ping pong...even Luke got in on the action.Saturday was Sarah's shower. It was so much fun to see all the cute stuff for baby Jackson. Miss K had to show Aunt Sarah what it is like to hold a girl...she will have plenty of time to get used to boys later....

JD LOVES his new cousins. He gets very excited around the 'baby' (his name for both Kenna and Luke). We so wanted to get a picure of all of them together; it just took some extra hands to prop everyone up! Mercy was just taking it all in...what chaos!!
Once we got home for the evening, Miss K did some chillin' on her play mat. She had so much fun watching everything move! (we have to work on the red eye thing).

Too much fun!!

Unhappy

Last night and tonight, Miss K has decided that she needs to let us know that she is just not happy. Nothing we do will fix the problem. She doesn't want her pacifier, or to eat, or to be held, or to be laid down. She just doesn't know what she wants! Sometimes you just need a good cry; I can understand that one. Once she cries for a while (a LONG while) then she will decide to get cheerful again and will start grinning and laughing (or trying to laugh...we haven't got that one completely accomplished yet...it sounds more like a squeak). Just the good old evening fussiness. We are such great parents we had to take pictures....

Once she calmed down a little, we gave her a bath and some food. Then she was good to go...happy again!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!!

I am so excited that Daniel is now a daddy. He is absolutely amazing with Kenna and she adores her daddy. They have so much fun together when I am at work and he is always more than willing to take care of whatever Miss K needs. I think he changes more diapers than I do...(is that bad?)

She loves to look at her Daddy and smile.

Friday night was the annual banquet for the Denton Fire Department. We all got dressed up and had a great time. Kenna was passed around the table a few times and was soooo good. She only fussed once and that was for about ten minutes and then she was done. After that, everytime she would start to get a little fussy, an award would be given and everyone would start clapping. Apparently she really likes the applause. She was awake for the entire four hours we were there. She topped off the evening with sleeping from midnight until almost eight o'clock! (Of course, that has obviously not been repeated as it was 4:30am when I started typing.) I was glad Daniel got to show off Miss K to all of the people he works with. They were very excited to see her.

My friend Kim came over yesterday and brought her daughter Olivia (she looks a lot older than just turned two, don't you think?) Kenna liked meeting Olivia - I'm sure they will be spending a lot of time together!

Just thought I would end with a random picture of Miss K - not sure what she was thinking in this picture, but I think it was something along the lines of mommy, stop taking pictures!

2 months old

Kenna went for her 2 month old well check today and she has gotten so big!! She weighed in at 10 lbs 1 oz and was 21.5 inches long - this bumped her up from the 10th percentile (at 2 week) to the 30th percentile. Way to go Miss K!

She even slept in her own room last night for the first time and did really well. I think she liked it! She slept from a little after 10 until 7 and she only woke up one time and that was to eat around 4. I will definitely take that.

We went over to Jon and Mandy's yesterday afternoon for dinner and a movie. Kenna wanted to show her new Bumbo sitting skills to JD. He seemed to have so much fun with the "baby"as he calls her. He wanted to share his ball first... Then he showed her her toes ...
He then decided she was not close enough and scooted her across the floor. She loved it! He is a strong little boy.

We decided Kenna needed a turn with JD in the Bumbo... it was only fair!

I think these two will be getting into a lot of trouble for years to come.

Fun with Kenna

We are having so much fun with Kenna! She will be two months old on Monday and is developing quite the personality. She definitely knows what she wants and when she wants it!! :)

She has gotten to where she can lift her whole body up when she is on your shoulder and loves to look around and see what is going on in the world.
She is also liking her Bumbo. She thinks it is really funny when Mom and Dad stand in front of her and try to make her laugh. (Her daddy was the one being silly in these pictures...aren't they cute!!) They must have been having a lot of fun while I was at work.

I love her arms in this picture...just kicked back and chillin'
She is just enjoying life!!
I think she is already trying to crawl, just kidding, but yesterday we laid her down for a nap on her play mat (which she loves) and everytime I looked over at her, she had moved!
She started off with her head where the pacifier is....the pink and yellow thing in the middle of the red part of the caterpillar...kind of hard to see. She was perfectly content to sleep on the carpet!
We are having a blast and can't imagine life without her!!
