Muleshoe trip

On Wednesday, we decided that Kenna and I would make a trip to Muleshoe for the long weekend. We flew in on Saturday and will be here until Monday. (Kenna is racking up the frequent flyer miles!) Daniel is having to work so we thought we should make a quick trip. My niece, Abbye, came home with us last night and we have had a lot of fun with two babies. They have pretty much been on different schedules - one sleeps while the other plays and then they switch. (Of course, they are both awake now). My sister and her husband are coming to pick up Abbye in a little while and take her home.

When I get a chance, I will post pictures. We have been pretty lazy today and haven't done much other than watch babies!!

Yummy, yummy

While everybody else was getting ready to send their babies off to kindergarten, I was feeding my baby cereal for the first time. We tried to video her first experience (Saturday) but the camera battery was dead so you get pictures of her third time instead!

She has done really well adjusting to the new texture but is still not exactly sure what she thinks about it. I am currently considering it a success if we get more in her than is on her bib.

She thinks the whole process is quite entertaining and loves to show her daddy her cute grin. Not sure what to think...

"Mmmm...I want what is on this bib!"
"Mommy, can I help?"
This is what happens when you let her help... she did it, not me! :)
Open wide!
Yummy, yummy!
Okay, now I have a question for all of you experienced moms. How did you incorporate cereal into your daily routine? Did you do it in the morning or evening at first? I am not sure when to give it to her so that she still has all her bottles/milk!

Baby Swap and Sleepover

Mandy kept Kenna while Daniel and I were both at work on Thursday - I think they had a lot of fun! When I went to pickup Miss K after work, JD came home with us so Jon and Mandy could go out to dinner (we both had to find some quick babysitting so we decided to just do some kid swapping!)

Kenna fell asleep in the car and I put her in her crib to finish out her evening nap. JD didn't know what to do without Miss K to entertain! He kept wandering over to play with her toys, but I don't think they were quite as much fun without his new bud.

When Kenna woke up from her nap, it did not take long for JD to start showing her the finer points of her exersaucer. He had discovered some neat tricks while she had been sleeping.

Kenna didn't want to smile so soon after waking.
After playing with Kenna and her toys for a while, JD discovered something even more entertaining than the toys - an empty Diet Rite box that was sitting next to the trash can.

They had a really good time together and were really good. JD only tried to feed Kenna his 'babies' (goldfish crackers) once. Being a single mom of two for the evening went a lot better than I thought it would!

Yesterday afternoon, Daniel took Kenna to meet his parents while I got my hair cut. (I chopped quite a bit of it off. I will try to take pictures soon). Daniel and I had planned on going out to dinner, just the two of us, for the first time since little Miss K made her appearance. We decided we might as well go all out and let her spend the night as well!

We went and picked her up this morning and it sounds like things went really well (or at least that is what they told us!) She is a pretty good baby and really only got upset when they were almost home - she had had enough of the carseat. Kenna had a lot of fun with her Aunt Mercy and her grandparents.

Daniel and I also had a lot of fun (we went to eat at Goodhue's) and we only called to check on Kenna one time. I was pretty proud of myself!

Now that Kenna and her parents are experienced at the sleepover business, who wants to keep her next?

My Future Gymnast

What an eventful weekend!

Saturday, Daniel's parents moved into their new house. All of the boys went up to help them move and it sounds like they got a lot done. I can't wait to see it all put together.

Saturday night, we met up with my study group from PA school. It was so much fun to see how much our group of five has changed! We have gone from three married and two singles to five married, seven kids (2 3-year olds, 2 2-year olds, a 10 month old, a 9 month old, and a 4 month old), and one on the way. It was madness...but so much fun! It was great to catchup with everyone and see their families.
Sunday we went to Jon and Mandy's for lunch to celebrate Ouida's birthday, which was actually on Friday. We have so much fun watching the kids play together. JD wanted to be everywhere the babies were and Kenna somehow found away to get underneath Luke. Miss K was content but I do not think Luke was too happy.
The cutest one year old nephew I have!

Miss K loved getting to play with grandma and took a good nap in grandpa's arms.

Now to the title of my post...

Daniel and I have been jokingly saying that Kenna will be representing the United States as a gymnast in the 2024 Olympics when she is 16 years old. She is tiny but strong so we think she may be the next Shawn Johnson. While we were at Kim's house on Saturday my friend Aaron decided to show us that Kenna was already well on her way to her Olympic dreams. Apparently she has quite the balancing ability and she cannot even sit up on her own yet! She laughed and smiled at the beginning but by the time I snapped the picture she was ready to get down! What do you think, are we Olympic bound?

Kenna's new toy

Miss K got a new toy this week and she is absolutely loving it. She has always liked to sit up and see what is going on so this is perfect for her! One of the guys that works with Daniel has a one year old son who has outgrown the exersaucer. He prefers to explore now and Kenna gets to enjoy thanks to Vaughan!

She will be perfectly content to play in one area for a while and then, when that is not fun any longer, she just turns herself to something else. She hasn't really figured out how to move her feet to turn herself around. She like to throw her shoulders in one direction and then hope that the bottom half of her body follows. (I will try and get a video of that for next time)

Looks like lots of fun times are ahead!

Kenna Pictures

I cannot believe that I have not put these pictures up yet! I really thought they were already posted, but my Mom reminded me that I had not posted them.

When everybody was here a few weekends ago, my cousin's husband, Joey, took some great pictures of the girls after they woke up one morning. They are still in their pajamas and have bed head but I love the pictures.

I have a feeling that when Kenna and Abbye are older, Miss K will be the one pinned down (at last that is how it was with me and Amy), so we thought we would let her be on top for once! Kenna concentrating on how to get the ball in her mouth. Isn't that where everything is supposed to go?
"What kind of trouble can I get into next?"
My favorite of the bunch. This picture very accurately describes our life at this time - smiles and drool!

New Look!

Kristi is awesome!!

She did such a great job designing a blog for me... I am sooo not artsy like that and she knew just what to do for our family.

Thank you! Thank you!

Sunday Swimming

Sunday afternoon Daniel's family came and we all spent some time at the pool after a great lunch. It was fun to see all of the "kids" play together.
JD wanted to play with all the older boys.
Luke had never been in the pool before and was not sure what to think about the "big, cold bath." He stayed in the water for a little while, but then decided he needed a nap.

Kenna was quite the little fish (again) and decided to share her turtle with JD. He took her on a ride around the pool.
We use a towel to help prop up Miss K, but she keeps trying to eat it.

After the babies got tired and went down for a nap in the stroller, the guys (as in my husband and his brothers) decided to entertain everyone else at the pool. They started playing "water soccer" - you try to get the ball to the goal, but you are not allowed to touch the ball with your hands - only your head and your feet. I wish I had taken a picture of that!

4 months old

Miss K is four months old today...wow! Everyone always talks about how quickly time goes, but now I am officially a believer!

We took her for her four month well check yesterday and the doctor said she was looking great. She is still a little on the small side. She was 12 pounds 14 ounces (35%) and 23 inches long (12%). I think she is just going to be a petite princess (my sister said she was going to call her 'the runt'). I am just impressed that she has grown almost six inches and gained over 6 pounds in four short months.

Daniel dressed Kenna in her A&M onesie yesterday (whoop!) and then she really got into the rolling over business. I think she just wanted to be a little aggie before she showed off her new skills. She has always loved being on her tummy. Now that she knows how to get there, she doesn't want to roll over to her back anymore. I think that was a new trick that was just good for a little while. I almost couldn't get the camera turned on in time to get her rolling over (don't pay any attention to my voice - does everybody hate the way they sound when they are recorded?).

Enjoy!

Roll overs and Raspberries

Kenna now has two new tricks. She rolled from her front to her back multiple times yesterday and today. She has been trying to do this for a while, but always seemed to get stuck on one of her arms. She is working on getting from her back to her tummy, but she usually stops to rest when she gets to laying on her side. She is so much fun to watch right now!

Her other new trick made its appearance yesterday while we were practicing the rolling over. Apparently, my little Miss K loves to blow 'raspberries.' I think her daddy has been doing this to her tummy a little too often :)

When we tried to video the rolling over, all she would do is blow bubbles - I guess that is much more fun - so you will have to wait for the rolling video!

I went ahead and put both of these videos up because we just love her little noises. I think she has been playing with all of the different sounds she can make. She is starting to like a few of the high pitched, loud ones!

More weekend pics

Okay, I have stolen a few more pictures from my cousins, Courtney and Leslye. Thanks girls!!

Here is GranGran and Kenna at lunch on Friday. They were having a great time!

Kenna got to take her first trip to Sam Moon...you gotta start early!!
Cousin time at the pool...all of the girl cousins were present and accounted for.

When Kenna is playing on her playmat, Daniel just has to jump right on in.
We put both of the baby girls on the mat and then, all of a sudden, they would be surrounded.

I have a video of Kenna's fun new trick that I will try to post tomorrow...having video posting difficulties!!

New House Rule

I came home today to find that a new house rule has been put into effect. Apparently, if you have two 'blowouts' in one day, you officially lose your clothing privileges. I guess whatever Daddy says, goes!

Miss K has gotten to where she really likes to play with her pacifier. She holds on to the little ring all of the time and has decided she likes to pull it out and then try to put it back in. She tries really hard and gets it right about 25% of the time. The rest of the time, it is either upside down, sideways, or she is biting on the plastic.

My sister posted some fun pictures of some of the activities this weekend. Abbye and Kenna are really starting to enjoy each other. Up until now, they have mostly just stared at each other - if they even noticed someone next to them at all. Yesterday at church, they just sat and stared and tried to grab each other's hands. It was too cute. I stole these pictures off of my sister's blog. Hopefully I can steal some more from the rest of my family once they update their blogs!!
