Girls Weekend 2010

I am blessed to have some wonderful friends from my time at A&M. I also really love the fact that we make it a point to get together once a year in the spring. Last year we went to Austin, so this year the party came to us! I love how we can always pick up right where we left off, even if it has been months since we saw each other!Me, Brittney, Julie, and Mitzi (I didn't get the black memo)
Freebirds has always been a College Station icon so we had to make a stop at the new one in Frisco.

We spent lots of time talking and catching up and just spending time together. I love these girls and can't wait until next year!!

Kenna's new "shirt"

Daniel was getting ready to go to Joel's graduation from the Fire Academy tonight and Kenna was entertaining herself by playing in all of the drawers of our dresser. When I walked in from work, I just started laughing. Kenna told me "I need new dress." Can you tell what her new dress is? :)(She is in this phase where she squints at the camera to protect her eyes from the flash...*sigh*)

Kenna's Big Girl Room

Tonight is Miss K's night #4 out of the crib. She is actually doing pretty well, at least in my opinion. Kenna LOVES her Big Girl Room (as she calls it) and would run in there and lay on her bed every so often if we would let her! Here are some pics I took of her mostly finished room. We still want to get a mirror for above the dresser and we are getting the valance that matches her bedding.

She really likes the flowers on the wall and has woken up two of the last three mornings saying "Wow, flowers on wall!"
Testing out her comfy "pi yo" right before bed.
I hope she continues to love it because, personally, I think it is pretty cute!

Daddy's Little Helper

This weekend was devoted to working on Kenna's big girl room. (Yes, she slept in the crib until she was 2, but she has never tried to climb out and has always been such a great sleeper. Of course, now that Dane is on the way, Kenna is being 'promoted' to a big girl bed.)

Daniel has put in so much time and done a GREAT job on her new room. He has painted one wall purple, one wall yellow, hung a ceiling fan, and put together numerous pieces of new furniture. Kenna has been very interested in all of the changes going on in the room across the hall and has stayed VERY excited about "Kenna's big girl room." Her favorite phrase of the weekend was "Daddy, I need help you."

I had my hands full keeping her from helping too much! :) Kenna slept in her bed last night and did a great job. Once we get the final touches on the wall, I will post some more pics of her completed room. My baby girl is growing up!!!

Kenna's Birthday Weekend

We had so much fun celebrating Kenna's birthday this past weekend. It is amazing how quickly she latched on to all of the excitement! She is still walking around singing "Happy Birthday" to Kenna, to Mommy, to whoever else she sees.... :)

Friday was a pretty normal day, but we spent the afternoon/evening playing on the slides, going to eat at Chick-fil-A (more playing on slides), and then opening a few presents from Dad and Mom. Miss K LOVES opening presents! It did not take her long to want to dive into her new dollhouse!
She has played and played and played with the dollhouse ever since she opened it...
....and once Kenna went to bed, Daddy had his chance to play! :)

Saturday morning, we all went to the Wiggly Play Center for Kenna's official birthday party! We were so blessed to have TONS of family members and friends come to help celebrate Kenna's big day.
Kenna loved climbing through all of the little tunnels, going down the slides, and bouncing in the bounce house. I think this is one of the only pictures I have of her playing, because I couldn't get her to slow down long enough to smile for the camera!! (Maybe someone else can e-mail me a few?)
We had to take a break from playing for cake and presents
Kenna eventually had to have some help blowing out the candles, but she thought the cake was really good!

Once she saw the cart of presents, she went NUTS! She knew exactly what to do with the wrapped boxes.
I think all of the little kids (and the big ones as well) had a lot of fun!!
Kenna had to spend some time on Sunday just recovering from all of the excitement! What better way than to have a snack outside on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon after waking up from a nap.
Kenna is growing up so fast! She is such a blessing in our lives and we can't wait to see what our two-year-old does next!!
2 year old stats - Height: 33.75 in (47%) Weight: 27 lbs 2 oz (56%)

Two!!

Today my baby girl is TWO!!!

I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by....she was so tiny when she entered the world two years ago.

We absolutely can't imagine life without her...she brightens every single day with her smile!

She has become quite the chatterbox and narrates every part of every day. I don't think we would know what to do if Kenna Beth wasn't talking!

WE LOVE YOU KENNA BETH! HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY!!!

Easter Weekend

This year, we spent Easter weekend with my grandmother and all of the family in Snyder. What a fun trip!

Unfortunately, our trip really did start off with a bang...

We were two blocks away from my grandmother's house when a guy driving a big F250 with a big grill guard didn't see us turning off of the main road onto the side street and decided to just go ahead and make his own turn. Luckily, no one was going above 15 mph, as we had slowed down to make the turn and he had just stopped at a stop sign. Nobody was injured but it sure was loud! Kenna didn't like the sound at all but then calmed down pretty quickly. I don't really think this is what Daniel was wanting to be doing... After some quick repair work on the tire done by my hubby and my brother-in-law, we were able to repair the back wheel enough to get home...now we just have to wait on the rest of the repair process...
I'm just very thankful that no one was hurt!!
After that fun start to the weekend, we were able to settle in and enjoy spending time with family. Kenna and Abbye had a blast playing together on Saturday and the weather was absolutely gorgeous...even if it was a bit windy!
We spent lots of time outside in the backyard, pushing the baby. Kenna has now decided that she has to push as fast as possible!!

We also let the little girls dye some Easter eggs. It took Miss K a while to get the hang of things because she was adamant that you did not write on eggs with crayons! She loved dropping them in the different colors though.
After watching a few times, she decided that it might actually be fun!
We also spent a lot of time at the playground equipment. Kenna LOVES slides!!

Apparently, she also likes to climb up climbing walls. We had never seen her do anything like this before, but the girl has no fear and was halfway up the wall before we knew it!!
Once Abbye saw what fun Kenna was having, she decided to jump right in and give it a try!
Kenna also got to open a few early birthday presents. Once she saw the wrapped gifts, there was no stopping her. I guess she remembers how much fun Christmas was!
She decided to try the little diaper cover for her new dress on as a hat....that is the correct place, right?
Easter morning was an absolutely beautiful day! And my little princess was in a smiling mood for some before church pictures....except she only wanted to smile for Mimzi and Poppy and not look at mommy.
Poppy, Mimzi, and their grandkids
Boyd Family picture...take one. Note to self, do not take your almost two year old away from her new Easter basket to take a picture.
Take two a little later went a little better....
Kenna loved all the goodies the Easter bunny brought...especially her new "maggie movers" (Imagination Movers) dvd.
It did not take her long to figure out the hunting eggs business....it is a lot like cleaning up, which she loves.
After a few helpful hints from mommy, she was off!

Of course, you occasionally have to stop and admire your treasures! (and, yes, there is a broom laying in the middle of the yard....both Abbye and Kenna have a fascination with cleaning these days and each got a broom of their own from Mimzi and Poppy)
After so much time with her grandparents and other extended family, Kenna came home thinking that candy was all she needed to eat....thanks Poppy!! :)
Happy Easter, everyone!!
