Kenna is 4!!!

Look who is 4!!  Kenna has been talking about turning 4 for WEEKS and couldn't wait
for her birthday.  I had to take a picture of her before she completely woke up this morning.  She was already asking if it was her birthday before she even had her eyes all the way open.  I can't believe she was once such a tiny little girl!

 Showing off her new age!
And what birthday would be complete without cupcakes and candles with her friends at Ms Tara's!
I think everyone else enjoyed it as well! :)

Kenna was quite excited about opening some presents tonight.....

.....but was a very sweet big sister who let her little brother help tear off some of the wrapping paper (and just in case you have read on facebook and are wondering, yes, the big box does have drums inside).
We actually had her birthday party two weeks ago when we were in Lubbock.  Both Kenna and Abbye had (separately) requested a Tinkerbell party for their 4th birthday so we decided to take advantage of the fact that we would have lots of family in the same area at the same time and did a dual party.
 My Tinkerbell!

The girls had a blast with the huge sandbox at the restaurant where we had dinner....
....and a bounce house is always a hit!
The girls had fun opening tons of presents and then we took turns singing Happy Birthday so they each had their own song and candles.

We had a great time and Kenna is still talking about how much fun her birthday party was "yesterday" (everything in the past is yesterday).

I love spending time with my precious little girl.  She has so much personality and is always full of life.  I cannot wait to see what the next year brings!

Mommy/Daughter Date

Kenna and I took the time to go on a special date yesterday and left the boys at home.  We went to see the Disney on Ice production, Dare to Dream, at the American Airlines Center and had a BLAST! (The trailer on their website is a very good representation of the show....I thought it was a great production.)

We didn't decide to go until after lunch on Sunday so our tickets were a little high, but Miss K still thought it was really "cool" and loved the purple ice!
I let her choose one treat and she went straight for the cotton candy....She had a hard time deciding between staring at the show and putting the cotton candy in her mouth.  (That cotton candy was $12!!!)
The show featured The Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, and Tangled.  They even had a Maximus...quite impressive when you remember that it was on ice skates.

Kenna's favorite part was when Rapunzel and Flynn were flying through the air on her hair (a much better picture on their website).
I didn't take many pictures because I was too busy watching K watch the show.  She was so enthusiastic about everything....great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Growing up

My kiddos are growing up....and it is making this momma very sad.  :(

Yes, I know that they are still not even in school yet and will have lots of other changes in the future, but I just keep noticing all of the little "baby" things that are already going away.

I posted a few weeks ago about Kenna and Baa and how Baa has found a new home.  He now sleeps in the drawer of her nightstand every night....she says it is his bed.

Well now Dane has given up sucking on his fingers.  I tried and tried and tried to get Dane to take a pacifier because I was so worried about how to break the finger habit.  I even blogged about it when he was just a few months old.  Once I got used to the fact that he was, for sure, going to be a finger sucker, it actually got kinda cute.  He would suck on his third and fourth fingers (always his right hand) and pat his nose with his index finger.  A few weeks ago, he sucked so hard that he sucked a blister onto his third finger.  And he was VERY upset with his "Owww".  He would walk up to anyone that would pay attention to show them his "oww".  He got a lot of dirt in it when he was playing outside so we kept a band aid on it for a few days.  And that was all it took to break the finger habit.  He has not put them in his mouth since....AT ALL!  I had been thinking that it was time to start working on the habit since he will be 2 in a few months, but I guess he had his own plans!  Which I guess I need to be thankful for :)

So now everything that my kids do that is cute in a little kid way is making me think "How much longer till this goes away?"  I am going to be sad when Dane really says yes instead of "law"  - don't ask how that means yes, it just does, and I love it.  And we are planning on signing Kenna up for preschool next year.

I am so glad that they are growing and learning as they are supposed to, but I am going to miss all of these fun phases...guess we will just have to have another one!

Thanks for letting me be a hormonal momma!

Baby #3 is a.....

GIRL!!!!

We are so excited to finally spread the news!  We went to the perinatologist when we were 13 weeks pregnant and she told us that she was 90-95% certain that we were going to have another girl.  We didn't really spread the news because we wanted to make sure everything was certain before we told Kenna.  We were not sure how we could explain that her baby sister had turned into a boy! :)

As I mentioned in a previous post, Kenna has been wanting a sister....of course, she changed her mind two days before we told her that the baby was a girl. I had to do some fancy talking and convince her that a girl would be more fun than a brother. :)  She has been convinced since we first told her about the baby, that her name is going to be Jujaw.  Ummm....yeah....we'll have to see about that!

Friday was the day we got to see lots and lots of pictures of baby girl.  She has the sweetest profile!  I think that she looks like our other two but we will see when she officially makes her appearance.

I love sonograms because we get to take a sneak peak at our sweet little one!!!  I can't decide if July seems so far away or just around the corner!!

Baa

This post makes me sad because it shows just how quickly my daughter is growing up.....

Kenna was definitely a pacifier baby for the first year of her life.  Once she was 13-14 months, we took the pacifier away and replaced it with "baa"....and from that point on a friendship was born that has continued until just recently (I have actually devoted a previous post to Baa that you can read about here).
Baa has been around for first plane rides and sleepovers at all of the grandparents as well as illnesses and time-outs.  And he has made several trips through the washing machine.  :)

And now Baa is starting to look a little worse for the wear.  His hands used to be sewn together and he was holding a baby sheep (maybe Baa is supposed to be a female but Kenna has always said "he").  His mouth is now only hanging by a thread and, just the other day, Kenna noticed that he is starting to get a hole on his back.
And, because of all of these things, Kenna has decided that Baa is getting too old for her to sleep with anymore and has relegated him to the little rocker in her room.  While I am glad that she is coming to these conclusions on her own and we are not having to eventually go through a "traumatic" experience, it makes me realize that she is not my baby girl anymore!!

Thanks, Baa, for being so good to my little girl! :)

Baby #3

So, once again, I have gone a whole month without blogging....but I promise that this time I have a really good excuse!

As most of you already know from my facebook post, Baby #3 is set to arrive sometime the middle/end of July.  I think more people see my fb than my blog, but I want to have it on here for future reference.

We are SUPER excited about adding another child to our family.  Kenna cannot wait!  She actually told me that there needed to be two babies in mommy's tummy (there is not) so that there could be a brother and a sister and then there would be 2 brothers and 2 sisters in our family.  Pretty smart for a 3 yr old if you ask me!  We have her convinced that she will be just as happy with one baby.  :)  She is really hoping for a sister so we will see....the big day to possibly find out is in about 3 weeks.

So now that the first trimester is fading away (I am currently 15 weeks) and taking a lot of the nausea and fatigue with it, maybe I will actually try to make more time to blog!

Christmas 2011

I know that Christmas was a few weeks ago, but I really want to make sure that I have some pictures posted to look back on in future years!  We had a blast at Christmas....the kids had so much fun!  They loved opening gifts and trying on/playing with everything they received....which was too much! :)

Dane loved his new cowboy hat from Poppy

Kenna couldn't wait to tear into all the presents.

All the kids ready to go to bed so Santa can come visit

My kids must have been really good this year!

Kenna was sooooo excited to get her Lion King Movie....that is ALL that she asked for!

Dane was very ready to try out his new tricycle.

And it didn't take long for Kenna to begin showing off her creative side....she loves to draw and color!

Merry Christmas from the Boyd Family!
