Did anybody else happen to see this story on CNN.com this morning? Wow!
TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) -- A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for 2 km (1.2 miles), leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.
The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.
He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.
The man and his leg were taken to hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.

Ummmm... can heavy drug use numb you to the point where you're not sure if your leg is missing?? Something is amiss here!
you would think losing a leg would directly affect one's ability to pedal a bicycle!
No kidding...what? After the excruciating pain, did he not think to look down and maybe see how his leg was...or that it was gone? Weird.
That's just weird! Like something you might see on one of those "Most Wildest Videos" or something.
I lost an eyelash once and it took awhile to figure out it was gone, does that count??!! Just kidding.
Ouch!!
(Becky, he was on a motorcycle.)
But, yes, I agree that losing a leg would definitely affect someone's ability to pedal a bicycle! :)
am i a nerd or what? i saw "biker" and after that i was convinced it was a bicycle, even tho the word motorcycle occured later- it was too late b/c my mind was already made up!
amberly- thanks for setting me straight!
that is one of the craziest (yet saddest) things I have ever heard!!!
