SNOW!!!!!

Only in Texas would it go from 76 degrees one day to less than 30 for all of the next day...but what fun!!

It has been raining and sleeting for most of this chilly day and then actually started to snow about 2 hours ago!! Of course, not much is sticking to the ground because it was so warm yesterday, but it looks really pretty in the eaves of all of the houses.

I am such an optimist....I'm all excited about the snow and how pretty it looks on the houses and am trying not to think about the fact that the roads might be a little icy in the morning on the way to work....I'm sure all the school kids are loving the fact that school may be canceled tomorrow.

I love the snow and hope it sticks around for a little while (doubtful though). Maybe I will just have to take a little trip to somewhere where there is enough snow to go skiing...now that would be fun!!

Out of the mouth of babes....

Just thought I would share a funny story from work yesterday. It is amazing what will come out of kid's mouths when you least expect it...

There is a set of twin girls who are almost 7 that come into the office fairly regularly so they know who I am now and are very talkative. Yesterday, the twin who was not sick started filling me in on High School Musical while I was looking at her sister. She was telling me how cute Troy was and how much she liked the movie, etc. Without any questioning, her next statement was....

"well, I know that he is cute but I don't think I will marry him"

My response was just a simple, "oh really?"

She then followed up with her reasoning...

"yeah, because if I get married, it will hurt to have babies and I don't like things to hurt. Do you think having babies hurts worse than getting a shot, because getting a shot hurts! Can I go get a sticker?"

Her mom just looked over at me with her mouth wide, completely shocked and then we both started laughing...what else can you say?

What time of day are you?

I found this on a friend's blog and thought it was fun...What time of day are you?

You Are Sunrise

You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life. You enjoy living every moment, no matter how ordinary.
You are a person of reflection and meditation. You start and end every day by looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy making people happy. You're often cooking for friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life for what it is - not for how it should be.

Thanksgiving Fun, Part II

On Friday morning, we got up and drove to my grandmother's house where all of my family was. They all thought that Daniel was working (we kept such a good secret) and were very surprised to see him walk in the door...he got a more enthusiastic welcome than I did!! (jk)

We spent the day just spending time together and hanging out and ended the evening with a rousing game of "Catch Phrase" (By the way, if you have never played that game, it is quite enjoyable...)

Saturday was spent doing more of the same....relaxing and spending time with the fam. Of course, we had to get our runs in (getting too close to the marathon to skimp on that). My brother-in-law even managed to get a pic (with my cell phone) of me and Daniel enjoying a nap...I tried to load it but I cannot figure out how to load the pics from my cell phone on to my computer. We stayed until the middle of the afternoon and then drove back home.

We had a lot of fun with everyone and cannot wait until Christmas when we get to do more of the same!!

(I took my camera but never took any pictures while I was there....sorry!!!)

Thanksgiving Fun, Part I

What a wonderful Thanksgiving!! We had a busy but funfilled weekend!

We started the day on Thursday at Daniel's family for some "Boyd family football" along with great food and fellowship. The boys are convinced that it is not a real Thanksgiving if they do not have a game of tackle football out in the yard. Of course, they forget every year how sore they are the next day....I guess they are not as young as they used to be!! It always makes me laugh that they want to play old guys vs. young guys...who do you think won?!?

(Sorry the pictures aren't better...I was trying to be quick and forgot to use the zoom)
After the game, we ate, and ate, and ate some more....we definitely had a full table.

And somehow, we convinced the boys that they were in charge of clean-up duty...how great is that!!! (and they look so good doing it...)

Can't wait until we can all get together again...we have such a good time!!

Cooking for Thanksgiving

Don't you just love Thanksgiving!?! I am so excited about this year. I am making dressing and pecan pie for Thanksgiving day with Daniel's family and then on Friday I am off to my grandmother's for more turkey and family!!!

I have only made dressing one other time (last year) and that was a little experimental so we will see if that is a little better this year. We are also having a potluck at work tomorrow and everyone is bringing something. It is a lot of fun to see what everyone brings but by the time the weekend is over, you have done a lot of cooking!!

Hopefully I will remember to take pictures over the holidays so I can add them here...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It's official...

We are running a marathon. Tonight, we officially registered for the Dallas White Rock Marathon on December 10th. We have been planning this for a long time and training really hard but I guess I never thought that it would get here. I can't believe that I am actually going to do this...am I crazy?!?

Gray's Anatomy

Don't you think that this is a good show? I just finished watching tonight's episode and I always enjoy that hour so much. Whether I am paying attention to the medicine part or laughing at all of the antics in their personal lives, I am having fun. Daniel just doesn't get it....he will watch it if I am, but it is definitely not his favorite show. He prefers to watch comedies and such. Of course, I do end up crying in most episodes for one reason or another. I can't wait until next week's extended episode!!

My first post....

Well I have decided to join the blogging world. After months of reading everyone else's blogs, I thought maybe I would give it a try...who knows, maybe I will like it!!
