Stacking

Kenna has found a new game to play - stacking her blocks. She will sit in the floor for a good ten to fifteen minutes at a time just stacking the blocks up until they finally fall down. Yesterday, I think she got all the way up to seven or eight blocks before her tower fell over. Of course, when I tried to get her to look at me so that I could take her picture, she accidentally knocked her tower over. Isn't the look I got such a loving look? :)

Blocks are such a timeless toy.

Visitors from Lubbock

This weekend, my sister and her family, along with several of their friends from church came to spend the weekend with us. We had a great time just hanging out together. Last year, we went to Hurricane Harbor with this group but decided that we had too many pregos (no, I am not one of them) this year to make that trek! Instead, the boys went out on the lake with Nathan while the girls did a little shopping and let the little ones take naps. We had 9 adults, 3 little girls (15 mos, 15 mos, and 14 wks), 1 little boy on the way, and one other baby-on-the-way in our house this weekend....what fun!

Of course, we couldn't start the day without a little makeup! Amy let Abbye and Kenna play with her makeup brushes and they had a blast! I'm not sure if I should let Daniel see these pictures or not! :) Kenna was really tired after staying up late the night before waiting for Abbye to get to our house. She took a 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon. Abbye had done most of her sleeping in my arms at Babies-R-Us and then on the way home so she played most of the afternoon. She kept walking up to everybody and asking if "nenna" was still "night-night". She was very happy when Miss K finally decided to join the rest of the world! Abbye wanted to jump right into the crib and play, but Kenna was still trying to wake up.

Once Kenna realized that Abbye had come to join her, they both kept giving each other hugs.

We went out to eat for dinner and then took a nice evening dip in the pool. We had a wonderful time with everybody and can't wait for them all to come back again!!

Ketchup

To my knowledge, Kenna had never really had ketchup until she went to visit my parents a few weeks ago. She had 'tasted' it a few times, but never enough to really count. That all changed in Muleshoe. :)

Now, she loves it! She had already eaten her dinner, but I had stopped at Sonic for me and my cousin Leslye who was visiting. I handed Miss K a few fries to keep her entertained for a moment and she would not eat them without the ketchup. She eventually ended up dipping the fry, licking the ketchup off, and then dipping the fry again. This was one of the days she had been running a fever (roseola) and we had taken her clothes off at one point to help her cool down....good thing she was running around in just her diaper! Looking for more ketchup...she had plenty of fries in her other hand.

Success!
This blog is dedicated to my brother who sent me a text message last night saying I had gotten lazy on my blog. Cade, this one is for you.....

Update

Sorry, no pics!
I just noticed that I had not updated in a while! I know that some of you have probably been going through a Kenna withdrawal but she was not home for a few days last week. Kenna and I flew to Muleshoe last weekend and then she stayed to play with her grandparents for another 3-4 days. You can check out pics on my parents blog. Hopefully they will be posting some more pics soon from her latest adventures.
This weekend was spent with me and Kenna snuggling. Poor baby has had a fever for the last 3-4 days and has wanted to spend time cuddling in Mommy's lap, reading books, and watching Mickey Mouse and Backyardigans. I looked her over on Saturday and thought it was probably just a virus but my Mommy brain overrode my PA brain and we went ahead and took her to the doctor today where they told us it was a virus. Guess I should have listened to my PA brain! :) Hopefully she will be on the mend soon. She has to provide me with some more blogging material! I was really sad that she was sick but I really enjoyed the extra snuggle time with my busy, on-the-go little girl.

Promotion!

Daniel received some good news the other day and became the newest Captain in the Denton Fire Department. He was officially promoted and presented with his red captain's helmet and letter of promotion. I am soooo proud of my husband. He is worked very hard for this and we couldn't be happier. Great job, babe!!

Comfy?

The other night, Daniel was turning out all the lights in the house and I was getting ready for bed. He walked into our room and said that I had to go look at our daughter - I laughed out loud when I opened the door.
Neither my laughter nor the flash woke her up, so we took her feet out from between the slats and rolled her over. She still stayed sound asleep.

Toilet Paper Adventures

I think it is just written in the rulebook that little kids get before they are born....at some point in your lifetime you have to unroll all of the toilet paper. Kenna has played with the roll a few times but has never gone beyond giving it a few spins.

Tonight, Daniel and I were in the living room and Miss K was making her usual circles around the kitchen, hall, and living room. We are usually really good about leaving the door to our bedroom closed but I guess I didn't get it completely shut tonight. Apparently, Kenna thought we might need her to bring us some toilet paper so she brought it from the toilet room to the bathroom to the bedroom to the hall before we noticed how quiet it had gotten.

She was very proud of herself and I couldn't quit laughing....

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July!
Last night, Kenna, Daniel, and I met Joel and Josh in Addison for Kaboom Town. Kaboom Town is listed by the American Pyrotechnic Association as one of the top ten places in the US to watch fireworks and they do not disappoint. What an amazing firework display!! It was a little hot outside when we arrived a little before six to set up camp, but Miss K made sure that she had plenty of water... Addison has a large grassy park in the center of the town that was full of picnickers and families. They had bounce houses, carnival type rides, and all the fair type food you could want - plenty of things to keep everyone entertained while we were waiting for the fireworks. Addison also has a small airport. There were several trick planes in the air all evening and one even had 'sparklers' from its engines right after the sun started setting.

The Cavanaugh Flight Musuem also had a Warbird Flyover - that was really cool to see all of these huge planes flying right over head. Kenna kept pointing to the planes in the sky saying her version of the word 'plane'.

We were glad Josh and Joel came to join us. Kenna loves hanging out with her uncles!

I was a little worried about Miss K getting too hot while we were out in the 103 degree heat, but she fell in love with one of the many huge misting fans that were set up around the park. Anytime she started to get a little warm, we would just walk on over and stand there for a little while...."wheeeee!!"

We were all first-timers and weren't sure where we wanted to set up all of our stuff. While we stopped to look around the area, I looked over to find Kenna a little exasperated that we were taking so long to decide!!

Kenna decided that she needed to share her sunglasses with Mom and Uncle Joel.

Kenna has never seen fireworks before and I wasn't sure what she would think about the loud music playing on the speakers or the big booms that followed each launch (especially since it was happening two hours past her bedtime), but she was completely enthralled with the lights in the sky.

She crashed ten minutes after we got in the car and slept the whole way home. After a little hop in the shower to rinse off sweat and sunscreen (which she hated) she was down for the count.

Happy 4th of July from Daniel and Heather and our little firecracker!

Cousin Dinner

Three of my cousins and my sister all lived in Lubbock for several years. They would have 'cousin dinner' once a week and would always call me and talk about how much fun they were having without me :(

My cousin, Brooke, teaches at a middle school in Lubbock. She, along with several other teachers and students from Lubbock, were attending a camp in Sherman. They all made a trip to Stonebriar on Monday night and Miss K and I got to join her for our own impromptu cousin dinner. Of course, we all know how much Kenna Beth likes to eat so she absolutely loved it! Thanks for calling us, Brooke! Can't wait to do it again!
