Unfortunately, our trip really did start off with a bang...
We were two blocks away from my grandmother's house when a guy driving a big F250 with a big grill guard didn't see us turning off of the main road onto the side street and decided to just go ahead and make his own turn. Luckily, no one was going above 15 mph, as we had slowed down to make the turn and he had just stopped at a stop sign. Nobody was injured but it sure was loud! Kenna didn't like the sound at all but then calmed down pretty quickly. I don't really think this is what Daniel was wanting to be doing... After some quick repair work on the tire done by my hubby and my brother-in-law, we were able to repair the back wheel enough to get home...now we just have to wait on the rest of the repair process...
I'm just very thankful that no one was hurt!!
After that fun start to the weekend, we were able to settle in and enjoy spending time with family. Kenna and Abbye had a blast playing together on Saturday and the weather was absolutely gorgeous...even if it was a bit windy!
We spent lots of time outside in the backyard, pushing the baby. Kenna has now decided that she has to push as fast as possible!!
We also let the little girls dye some Easter eggs. It took Miss K a while to get the hang of things because she was adamant that you did not write on eggs with crayons! She loved dropping them in the different colors though.
After watching a few times, she decided that it might actually be fun!
We also spent a lot of time at the playground equipment. Kenna LOVES slides!!
Apparently, she also likes to climb up climbing walls. We had never seen her do anything like this before, but the girl has no fear and was halfway up the wall before we knew it!!
Once Abbye saw what fun Kenna was having, she decided to jump right in and give it a try!
Kenna also got to open a few early birthday presents. Once she saw the wrapped gifts, there was no stopping her. I guess she remembers how much fun Christmas was!
She decided to try the little diaper cover for her new dress on as a hat....that is the correct place, right?
Easter morning was an absolutely beautiful day! And my little princess was in a smiling mood for some before church pictures....except she only wanted to smile for Mimzi and Poppy and not look at mommy.
Poppy, Mimzi, and their grandkids
Boyd Family picture...take one. Note to self, do not take your almost two year old away from her new Easter basket to take a picture.
Take two a little later went a little better....
Kenna loved all the goodies the Easter bunny brought...especially her new "maggie movers" (Imagination Movers) dvd.
It did not take her long to figure out the hunting eggs business....it is a lot like cleaning up, which she loves.
After a few helpful hints from mommy, she was off!
Of course, you occasionally have to stop and admire your treasures! (and, yes, there is a broom laying in the middle of the yard....both Abbye and Kenna have a fascination with cleaning these days and each got a broom of their own from Mimzi and Poppy)
