More Kenna-isms

I usually think that Kenna is a pretty funny girl, but some days she just seems to make me laugh more than others and today has been one of those days.

First, I have to brag on my big girl. We have had a very busy weekend (I will post some pictures about that later) and Kenna has not gotten to sleep near as much as she usually does so I was a little worried what today would bring as far as attitude goes, but she did so good! Three different times today I told her that it was time to clean up what we were doing so we could go somewhere else and all three times she looked at me and said "okay mommy" and started picking up. Yea!

Now for the funny Kenna stories...and, yes, all of these just happened within the last hour.

I was putting up some laundry and all of the sudden I noticed that Kenna was missing. I started walking through the house calling her name when I suddenly heard "It's dark in here!" She had shut herself in Dane's closet. I must have left the door open as I was hanging up some of his clothes.

After I got her out of the dark, we were walking into the hall and she saw her little barbie 4-wheeler and climbed on...then she asked me to ride with her. I told her I was sorry but that I was too big...she said "no you're not mommy, I hold you in my lap"....yeah, I really see that one happening! :)

I then went and grabbed the dress I was wearing this morning before Dane decided to overflow his diaper and was going to spray some stain stuff on it before I washed it. Apparently we use too much 'I can't believe it's not butter' because Kenna came running over saying "I want some butter!"

Oh, I just remembered one more from this morning. It was early and still dark out when we all started getting up but we were letting K sleep in a little bit longer. She started talking a little so I walked into her room to tell her it was still night-night time. She looked at me and said "Its still dark outside. I go night-night. Tasha had pizza in the water and then there was the wind and then she rode her bike. Now I go night-night" and then she rolled over and went back to sleep. My little girl does love her Backyardigans!

I L-O-V-E my little girl's fun-filled personality!

3 Months Already

I can't believe that my little man is already 3 months old! He is such a happy little boy and is growing so fast. He has really started to love his playmat and will bat at his keys and the red bird for hours (well, at least in baby time). Who can resist that grin! And now that Dane has decided that it is okay to sleep for almost 8-10 hours at a time, Mommy is a much happier camper. :)

And for other news in our house, Miss K is wearing big girl panties! They have yet to stay completely dry but we are working on it! She loves her minnie panties and her elmo panties. We have made multiple trips to sit on the potty but, as of yet, they have been mostly unproductive....lots of carpet cleaning going on at our house this weekend! She is so proud of her panties.
I can't believe my kids are growing so quickly!

Kenna's Turn

Time for a Miss K update!

Kenna continues to keep us in stitches. She talks SOOOO well (and all the time) and has a comment for everything!

Sunday morning she decided that she needed a hat to wear while we were all getting ready for church. Of course, I had already done her hair. And then, after messing with everything on my bathroom counter until she found what she wanted, she needed some of her lipstick (chapstick).
Pretty much everyday, when I get home from work, Kenna goes to the community pool near our house. Some days we make it a family trip and some days it is just Kenna and Daniel, but, either way, she absolutely loves it!
Unfortunately, yesterday we received an e-mail stating the pool had to be closed for 24 hours due to "fecal contamination"....yuck! So we had to improvise for our little water girl. Daddy turned on all the backyard sprinklers and sent her out in her swim diaper and sunglasses.
She LOVED playing the sprinklers. She would giggle and giggle the whole time that she was running toward the spray and would then try to dodge the water. She made quite the circuit around our yard.

Daddy got in on the fun as well. The lid to the sandbox became a great mini-pool and what better way to fill it up than with a cooler!

She would run through the sprinklers, jump into the pool, and then go work on some sandcastles in the sandbox with Daddy.
Daniel was also grilling some chicken while supervising our impromptu spray park but Kenna decided that she would rather have Mommy make her a grilled cheese sandwich.
What better way to end the day then with a grilled cheese sandwich and veggie straws at your very own picnic table. Fun way to end the day! Too bad Dane decided that he wanted a nap during all the fun....

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Daniel's mother's birthday is the beginning of next week. Joel and Sarah were in town from Arkansas, so we decided to have a surprise dinner at Ouida's house for her birthday. I think she was very surprised when all of her children and their families started randomly showing up Friday afternoon. By the time everyone arrived, there were 23 people there to wish her a Happy Birthday. What a fun evening!

Aunt Mercy made sure that Dane (my little piglet) had plenty to eat. The next two pictures show you the definite difference between girls and boys. Kenna and Jackson were playing together (JD hadn't made it yet) but Kenna was playing and talking on the telephone.....
.....while Jackson was running around shooting his gun.
Grace was all smiles for the camera. We were so excited to finally get to meet Miss Grace!
Grace and Dane decided that they needed a little nap. Even though Grace is 12 days older than Dane, they are pretty much the same length, but, I think he might be a little chunkier! :) And yes, Dane did have to have a wardrobe change after a major diaper malfunction. Too bad I didn't get any pictures of Kenna and Dane together in their coordinating outfits before the swap.
So where do you put two little ones who need a nap but need to stay out of the way of the three active toddlers running around....under the piano, of course!

Kenna loves playing with her uncles and was happy for a ride with Uncle Solomon. Grandma had a lot of help blowing out her candles.
Even though it was 105 degrees outside (in the shade), everyone still had fun enjoying the great outdoors. All of the kids (big and little) took turns on the four wheeler, etc. I love Jackson's feet in this picture (yes, they are propped up and crossed at the ankles). He is totally relaxed and just along for the ride.
Kenna was getting onto her Uncle Nate for making her have a wreck. It was pretty funny.
The babies still spent most of their time indoors. They weren't quite ready for the heat just yet.

Overall, it was a very fun, surprise birthday evening. Happy Birthday Grandma!!

Happenings around our house

Time for some new pictures!!

Dane is getting pretty good at holding his head up and has gotten to try out the jumper a few times. He only stays for a little while because his head starts to get a little too heavy for him and falls forward, but while he is there, he has a ball! He likes to try to swing his arm and hit stuff....too bad his aim isn't all that great yet. :)
Kenna was one tired little girl when she got home from grandma and grandpa's. This is how I found her when I went to check on her during her nap. She had a blast and keeps telling me all sorts of stories.
Not sure why this picture is sideways, but anyway....Once she got up from her nap she decided she needed some playtime with Dane.
Kenna really missed her baby brother over the weekend and gave him lots and lots of hugs when she got home. Dane loves tummy time! Most of the time he just makes himself comfortable and falls asleep because he loves sleeping on his stomach, but he is also getting pretty good at holding his head up.
He also likes sitting in the Bumbo...it makes it a lot easier to see what his active sister is doing! He looks like he is ready for a fight! :)

How can you not love that grin!!

Weekend with only one

This weekend, Kenna spent the weekend with Grandpa and Grandma and Mercy. Her cousin Jackson was around for several days and we thought it would be fun for them to play together. I don't have any pictures of their escapades but I know that they had lots of fun on Friday. Unfortunately, Jackson was a little under the weather on Saturday with an upset tummy, but I don't think that stopped Kenna from enjoying her time at the grandparents.

Needless to say, it was VERY QUIET at our house this weekend. When the one child that you have at home spends a lot of time like this.... ...then you can get a LOT of those projects that pile up accomplished! I cleaned out part of our closet and two hall closets. Daniel did all the grocery shopping and a lot of work in the yard. And that doesn't include the normal laundry, dishes, etc. We felt very productive so we decided to end the evening with a little dip in the pool. Dane cried when we got him out. He loves the water! All you have to do is support his head and the rest of his body just floats to the surface... :)
We also went out to dinner twice. Quite a different experience when you have an 11 week old asleep in the carrier compared to a 2 year old who likes to be entertained!

While we enjoyed our weekend with only one kiddo, I miss my little girl and am ready to have her home this afternoon...our house is seeming a little too quiet.....

Bandit or d*%n it

One of Kenna's favorite shows is The Backyardigans...and it has been for a very long time. She likes to sing and dance along and can tell you the story line for most all of the episodes. She does have a few that are her most favorite and one of these is "Riding the Range." In this episode, several of The Backyardigans are making a trip to Texas and are looking for the Bandit who took off with Uniqua's jump rope (remember, it is all about using your imagination). Kenna loves this episode and refers to it as either riding the range or as bandit because they are often yelling for the bandit. Unfortunately, Kenna can't really say bandit. She mixes up a lot of the letters and it always, always, always comes out as d*%n it....and she yells it at the top of her lungs.

Today, we were walking through Garden Ridge after church when Kenna decided that she wanted to yell for the bandit...and I mean yell. I was so embarrassed! I mean what two year old walks around yelling d*%n it! I tried to ask her if she was yelling for the bandit, but it was no use. Everyone around us just kept staring at the 'horrible parents' who allow their daughter to speak that way. Maybe we need to work on annunciation and inside voices! :)
