One Week

I can't believe that Dane is already one week old! It has been so much fun getting to know his sweet little personality. He is very laid back and calm (for now at least) and is quite the cuddlebug! Of course, he is a little confused about when he is supposed to sleep and when it is time to be up, but we will get that figured out eventually!! Last night he was awake from midnight until 2:30 before falling asleep....and then he eats every 2-3 hours so there is not much sleeping going on at our house these days. But when you look at such a sweet face, you lose all desire to complain. We are so very thankful for such a wonderful blessing from God.

We're Home!!

Yesterday morning, we got to bring our little guy home! Of course, we had to have a short photo session before we could officially leave. Dane was posing for some really cute pictures in the outfit his daddy claimed was 'almost too girly'....I just thought it was sweet! :) I can't wait for my cousin Courtney to send me the pictures that she took at the same time. Her picture of Dane from the other angle is precious!!

Kenna was very excited that we were all going to get to leave the hospital. She has liked to come see Mommy, Daddy, and Dane, but she was ready for all of us to go home!!

Loading everyone in the car...
Kenna liked having her little brother in the backseat with her.

We had a very uneventful ride home...both kids slept and it was only a 12 minute drive!!

It was so nice to have my family all under the same roof!!! If you look closely, you can see Kenna's baby doll in the car seat with Dane while she helps carry him into the house.
Of course, all of us under one roof only lasted for a few hours, it sure was nice! Kenna left yesterday afternoon to go spend a few days with Mimzi and Poppy and she was SOOO excited! It has been really quiet around our house without Kenna but it has also been nice to get to spend a few days at home getting acquainted with Dane and just recovering. I can't wait to have everybody home though! There will definitely be more pictures coming!

Our expanded family

Here are a few of the promised pictures of our newly expanded family. I have so many from the last few days and I don't want to overload you guys so I thought I would start with some of our family of four...there will be many more to come with Dane and all of our fun visitors.

I love this picture of Dane...he is such a content, alert little guy!! Daniel with his two kids on Dane's birthday.
Daddy giving his little princess a hug...she just wasn't too interested in Dane for the first few days.

Today, though, she decided that he might be a little interesting after all. She wanted to touch all of his little fingers and toes and show us where his mouth, nose, etc. was all located.

Kenna giving Dane a kiss on the cheek

Just looking at her little brother...I think pictures like this make her look so big!!

Mommy with both kids...Kenna totally made me laugh while we were taking this picture. She looked at Dane and said "How old are you, Dane? Are you 2?" We told her that yes he was two....two days old. Apparently we have been asking her that question a lot recently!

Me and Dane

This was the best shot we could get of our new family of four...it takes a lot more work when you have to get the two year old to smile for the camera!!

One more of Dane Oliver actually looking at the camera...(poor guy had to have his blood drawn a few times on Friday (everything was fine...more on that later) so he has a nice purple bruise on his hand)
There will be many more to come I'm sure...along with all of the details from the past few days!

Dane Oliver

Dane Oliver Boyd is here!! It still seems very surreal that I have two kids. He was born at 7:34 this morning and weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz and was 18.5 in long. It is crazy to me how much my two kiddos look alike! Of course, they both entered the world at the same weight, but Dane is a little over an inch longer than Kenna was when she was born. Their mouths are VERY similar but I think Dane's might be a little larger.
Kenna is not sure what to think of being a big sister. She keeps wanting Mommy to get up out of bed and take her pajamas off! We have taken some pictures of Dane and Kenna together, but I still haven't put them on the computer yet and will try to take some better ones tomorrow.
I am already in love!

Getting Ready for Dane

We have spent a lot of time this weekend trying to get all the loose ends tied up so we will be ready for Dane Oliver to come into this world. We finished up his nursery (At least for now. I still need to find some things for some of the walls). I have all of the little newborn clothes and diapers ready to go. We washed and put the car seats back together. They are just sitting in the hall waiting to go in the car. And now we are just waiting on a baby to join our family in a few short days! I got the camera out to take pictures to post of Dane's room and discovered that our camera is broken. Ugggh!! :( Guess we need to add that to our 'to-do' list this week.

I think Kenna is as ready as a two-year-old can be when it comes to welcoming a new baby. She talks about Dane a lot now and knows that some of the stuff in the house is now for him. She loves to point to the cabinet with the bottles and tell me that Dane's bottle are in there. She has also started calling the crib "Dane's Bed" instead of "my other bed" like it was when she first moved to her big girl bed. She has tried out the car seat in the hall (several times) and has also decided that the bouncy chair is a lot of fun even if it is for Dane. I am sure that we will have some adjusting to do once the baby is actually home but I think she will do great!

May 21st is just around the corner and will be here before we know it. That date already has so much special meaning for us and I am glad that we also get to make it our son's birthday (as long as everything stays according to plan :). Six years ago on May 21st, Daniel asked me to marry him and spend the rest of our lives together. One of the best (and easiest) decisions of my life! May 21, 2005, was the day my Grandfather (Gurr) went to spend his eternity in Heaven. I know he would have loved the fact that Dane will be born on this day. I am so glad that we get to add to the significance of this special day.

So as long as everything goes the way it is scheduled, Dane should be here around 7:30-8 on Friday morning. I can't wait to meet our little boy.

Kenna's New Cousin

Miss Kenna has a new cousin! Grace Elaine made a surprise early appearance in the wee hours of the morning on Mother's Day. Daniel's sister, Sarah, and I were due on the same day so this has definitely driven home the fact that we are going to have a baby soon! Grace weighed a healthy 8 lbs even and was 20 in long. Kenna has loved looking at pictures of Grace and we can't wait to meet her. Congratulations Joel, Sarah, and Big Brother Jackson!

Baby Shower

Last Saturday, two of my great friends from PA school, Amy and Kim, threw a baby shower to help welcome Dane into this world. They had lots of yummy food and everything looked great!
Miss K even got in on the action and had some presents of her own to open. She has fallen in love with her new golf clubs and plays with them all the time. Yesterday, she wouldn't give Daniel a hug bye until she had her golf club in her hand...then it was okay.
We received so many nice things!!

Thanks everyone for coming....I had a blast and loved all the cute new goodies!!
