As I said in my previous post, we left on Tuesday to head to my sister's for the evening but Kenna's illness made us change our plans and we decided to go ahead and go all the way to my parents' house so we could keep the two girls apart. I really wish I had taken a picture of us unloading the car on the side of the road so we could change Kenna's clothes.
Because we were already in Muleshoe on Wednesday, I got to go see Duff Goldman and Ace of Cakes present a cake to the Muleshoe Police Department.
I'm not exactly sure how this all happened, but Duff and some of his crew are doing a two week road trip in an RV and taking cakes to a few different places. Somehow Muleshoe ended up on their schedule! Duff said he had never been to Texas before and really enjoyed his trip.
They seemed to have a lot of fun touring our neck of the woods and got to ride mules and everything. They presented a cake shaped like a mulerider hat and was decorated with police memorabilia. The show is supposed to air in the fall...can't wait to see what it all looks like on tv after it had been edited and everything...could be interesting! That evening it was back to wedding preparations. Mom had some labels made for water bottles that had Cade and Kyla's name along with the wedding date. We had to cut off all the old labels and replace them with the new ones.It took a lot of time, but I think they turned out really well!Thursday we went to Lubbock for Critterfest at the Science Spectrum. Kenna absolutely LOVED everything about that day. She really enjoyed the baby goats and wanted to feed them. They were selling feed so I asked Daniel for some cash to go get her some but he said that she didn't need any...she had found her own.She was picking up the extra feed off of the ground and then giving it to the animals. She is a girl after her Daddy's own heart...why buy some when you can use what is already there?Dane was pretty content to sleep in the wrap the entire time we were there.Once we made it inside, Kenna was in heaven in the room that is designed especially for toddlers. She loved the roller coaster......and had to take a turn driving the fire truck. She looks like a natural doesn't she? Then we moved on to the water feature. Kenna loved placing the boat at the top of the ramp and then letting it slide down. She also splashed and splashed in the other areas.Unfortunately, we did not see the smocks until after Miss K had already drenched the front of her shirt. She tried to dry off a little with the hand dryer but it didn't work so well. One of her favorite parts of the room was the trampoline. She was jumping very high and I think she would have jumped forever! We then moved on to see some other animals. I think Kenna wanted to swim with the fish. What a great way to spend the day!The next day, Friday, we drove to Roswell to begin all of the wedding festivities as my brother, Cade married Kyla. Dane and Anson had a lot of fun just hanging out together once we all arrived at the hotel. I'm glad that Anson didn't roll over! :)Friday night was the rehearsal. While we were waiting for everything to get started, Kenna talked her Uncle Cade into letting her wear his hat.
Abbye and Kenna were two of the flower girls. I think Kyla was very brave asking 2 year olds to be part of her wedding but they loved holding on to their baskets full of flowers!Apparently being a flower girl is hard work...Kenna had to take a break! I really wish I would have taken more pictures on Saturday but I guess I just got too busy making sure Miss K was all primped and ready to go. This is a little far away but I thought it was a nice picture of the groom and my parents. Cade looked very handsome!Kenna and Abbye both did really well in their job as flower girls. They both made it all the way down the aisle and onto the stage. That was about as far as Kenna went - she wanted to sit with her Mommy and Daddy. Abbye made it a little bit longer before she decided to come sit with us as well. They both walked out with the other flower girl. Overall, I thought it was an excellent performance for the little girls - they did GREAT!!
All of the after wedding pictures seemed to be too much for Miss Kenna. She decided that she needed to take a little rest to get rejuvenated. At the reception, the party really got started! I loved the sign outside of the reception - Cade Hooten had married Kyla Wooton so everyone kept talking about the Wooton/Hooten wedding.Cade's cake was in the shape of his brand and was covered in chocolate covered strawberries...yummy!All of my hard work looked very nice! The bride and groom getting ready to feed each other the first bite of cake. Cade smeared Kyla...Kyla changed her shoes and was all ready for the dancing to start!Kenna thought the dancing was the best part of the whole day. She found a spot next to our table and kept everyone entertained with her dance moves. After the dance floor was opened, Kenna convinced her daddy that she needed a partner. She had so much fun and laughed and laughed. She also had a dance with her Uncle Cade. Unfortunately, after this dance, Kenna's mother made her leave the party and go home and go to bed. She was so exhausted that she fell asleep the minute her head hit the pillow. And that is all the pictures I took on Saturday. Not a single family picture. Not a single picture of Dane all dressed up in his wedding finery. Not a single picture with the bride. You got the idea. What was I thinking! Hopefully I can snag some from other people! (some of these did come from my cousin Courtney)
Sunday morning I packed up some of our things while Daniel and Kenna snuggled on the couch at the hotel. She needed some Daddy loves after such a busy weekend!Once we got back to Muleshoe, we made a trip to the slides at one of the elementary schools in town. Kenna had so much fun and found her favorite "fast" slide. She loved how it made her lay back as she went down. The next day we spent some time at Muleshoe's new water park. It is so nice! It has a walk in area, a lazy river, and a slide. Kenna thought the slide was the best part. She convinced her Daddy to take her down the slide once and that is all it took...she was hooked. Daniel and I took turns riding down the slide with her while the other one tried to catch her and keep her from going under water too long at the bottom. She had her floaties on and always popped right up and asked to go again. Eventually, she convinced her Poppy to take a few trips down the slide with her as well.
After the water park, we spent some time in my parents' back yard on the four wheeler. Kenna thought she needed to be the one to drive.
We also made S'mores over the grill. Kenna had never had a S'more before and thought that it was excellent.
Daniel had to show her how to really enjoy a S'more.
And that is a summary of our trip. Dane did not appear in many pictures - he spent all of his time being passed around and loved on. Both kids did great in the car so I was pleasantly surprised! We are now home and getting back into a normal schedule.
